One on the keys to a success in the Performing Arts today is diversity.  While in years past a venue that strictly presented Shakespeare may have thrived, our society has changed and theaters and the arts community have to change as well.  A main goal should be to provide a unique and varied array of performances that will reach out to every member of the community and give them a reason to come downtown. We recommend venues be open 6 or 7 days a week, year ‘round, with the exception of necessary closings for maintenance and improvements.  While a final programming line up will be tailored to the community, the following is a sample schedule:

Monday - An Open Mic night where any performer can get the chance to perform in front of a live audience.  These performances might be music, stand up comedy, poetry, magic or anything else one can imagine.

Tuesday – Performances geared towards local interest such as a popular local band or a rotation of local favorites.

Wednesday – A midweek movie shown outdoors (weather permitting) or indoors.  These movies will not be current releases but rather will be old favorites from a few years ago and appeal to a wide range of people.

Thursday – Improv night featuring one or several troupes creating performances based on audience input.

Friday – A presentation of a play or other ‘Mainstage’ show.  This show will be produced by the theater or a local Performing Arts Group and feature local performers whenever possible.  On the weekends when we the theater is between shows (preparing for the next one) a major performer ("headliner") could be featured.

Saturday afternoon – A performance geared for children.  To introduce them to the broad range of the Performing Arts it could be anything from storytelling to magic to dance.

Saturday Evening – A presentation of a play or other ‘Mainstage’ show.  This show will be produced by the theater or a local Performing Arts Group and feature local performers whenever possible.  On the weekends when we the theater is between shows (preparing the next one) a major performer ("headliner") will be featured.

Sunday – As needed, a matinee performance of the ‘Mainstage’ show.

While this is an ambitions (and expensive) schedule of performances, it ensures a variety that should appeal to most area residents and provide a steady stream of visitors to the downtown area.
